Early Bed Time vs 94°F Run

Two months ago I may have said I’ll take the cooler weather and a late bed time. Not today. I am trying to get as much sleep as I can get. I enjoy it and I think I am functioning better with more sleep. After many years of barely getting any sleep….5-6 hours….I’ve been getting much more each night…..7-8 hours. Sometimes I feel like I may not be getting as much done but I am probably actually getting just as much done because I am functioning at a higher level when I am awake.

The whoop strap said I would be performing at peak level today after last nights sleep effort. However, I didn’t feel like it. Maybe it has been my recent diet. As things start to lift we have started eating out a bit which means I am losing a bit of control over what I intake. Yeah, I could chose wise things to eat when going out but I don’t. I like food and a lot of it.

About half way through the 8 mile run today I started to feel pretty good. It was really hot and I soaked my head in the lake at the halfway point so that probably helped a little. I also brought a bottle of water with Tailwind in it to help keep me hydrated. Overall the run wasn’t bad but I wasn’t running at peak capacity. I was again grateful to have a pool at the finish line to get some refreshment.
