I Love Morning Trails!
I wish I could run trails every morning. Unfortunately every weekday morning I have a meeting at 645AM. I guess I could probably make it if I started running at 5AM on the dot but I don’t. So, I just have to enjoy the days that I do get some morning trails. There is something special about the quietness of a morning when the day is just starting and there aren’t many people out. Then your run is done for the day and you’ve already accomplished a goal. It simply sets the day up well and I love it.
I felt great on the run this morning also. I was a 3x10 workout. I felt pretty good from the start but got better as I went on. My 3 efforts got progressively faster….that is always good. I’ve been trying to get more sleep and haven’t had any alcohol for a couple days. I’m trying to see if it has any effect on my heart rate variability on my Whoop strap which gives me better recovery.
The rest of the day was filled with family time. My wife had to run a few errands so we had some boys time at home. We had some fun pretending we were looking for a treasure on a map we made. During the Little’s nap I went for a pretty decent bike ride with the Big. We covered about 3 or 4 miles. He took his first good spill about 1/2 a mile in but got back up and kept on going. He has a nice little scrape on his chin but he’s good.
Tomorrow is a 24 miler. That’s a long one. Should be fun and I’m looking forward to getting to some parts of the trail that I haven’t seen in awhile. Hopefully there aren’t any downed trees blocking me from getting in like there was last week. I will figure it out either way.
