9 Miles, 90°F at 9PM
I found these cool rock on my run tonight. I’ve seen a lot of them lately but never stopped to take a picture. I think I’m going to start now though….I like them. I love the positivity they provide.
It was a hot one today. Sounds like it will be for the rest of the week. This is the first solid heat wave of the year and I’m kinda excited. It does make running a bit more challening but that’s part of the fun. My choice today was either 100°F at 5PM or 90°F at 9PM. I went for the latter. Not really because of the small temperature difference but more so because the sun wouldn’t be beating down on me at 9PM. It actually didn’t feel crazy hot tonight.
I will say that I didn’t feel like running at all. I think I had too much dinner and I just wan’t feeling it. On top of that it was a workout run. This was the first time I’ve done this one…..12x3 at lactate threshold. I still don’t know exactly what that means but basically I warm up for 15 min, then run hard for 12 minutes three times while taking a 6 minute easy run between the 12’s and finally at 15 minute cool down. That timing and effort got me 9 miles tonight. A solid weeknight run.
I felt better as I went on but never quite felt I had my full potential to give. Tomorrow is supposed to be a little hotter I believe. I only have an 8 mile easy run but navigating the heat will be interesting. We will see how the day goes and see how I am feeling to determine when and what I run.
