Love Me Some Thunder
I raced the storm to the lake today and I won. It was awesome to hear the thunder roaring in the background as I was running. It is somehow soothing. I don’t even know how it works….I’ve always been a bit of a weather fanatic. However, I’ve never takent the time to understand it or read about how it works. I think it is time I do so. Here is another picture of those amazing clouds before I get into the run.
I felt good on the run today. It was an easy 8 miler. I felt good from the start and pushed it a little more than usual. This is two Monday’s in a row that I felt good. Maybe that Sunday rest after my Saturday long run is key….I don’t know. I will start to pay attention to that.
I think my shoes are finally at their end. I ordered a couple new pair yesterday and hope to get them soon. I must have at least 400 miles on each pair of my trail shoes. I don’t do a good job of tracking it but based on my mileage this year alone plus some time on them last year they have to be over 400. I am thinking that is why my heel was hurting a couple weeks ago. I am guessing they have lost thier cushion. We will see when the new ones arrive.
Anyway, a good start to the week. This week is scheduled to be relatively “easy”. I’m still doing over 50 miles but I don’t have any planned workouts. It just a bunch of easy 8 milers with a 20 mile long run. Should be a solid week. I believe my fourth or fifth 50 mile week in a row. I’m basically fully ramped up again I think. I have my eye set on a race in August if things get back to normal. I’m waiting to sign up until things loosen up a bit. Fingers crossed. One more of the lake I love so much!
