Still sore
Still thinking about the run on Saturday. I’m happy about it. I put it all out there and am happy with the results for my first “marathon”. It’s cool to say that I have done a marathon…..I haven’t even quite comprehended that yet. I wonder what percentage of people have done a marathon. Plus mine was on the trails….we got some elevation gain. Bonus miles too!
Ok, enough of that. Time to get back at it and face the realities of life right now. I got back out there for a quick three miler tonight. My legs are still really sore from the race but it felt nice to get them moving. It was also nice to get out and get some fresh air with all of the chaos going on right now. I still have my finger on the pulse of the Bay Area because that is where all of my work takes place. Thankfully I am in a position where I am able to work remotely. However, I still feel and see the impacts that Covid-19 is having on the area.
Today, the entire Bay Area was basically shutdown. People were told not to leave their houses unless absolutely needed. Personally, I think it is a good call. However, I think that the lack of understanding and paranoia of people is going to make things worse than they should be. I suspect absolute chaos is on the horizon. This is not good. It isn’t going to be this virus that gets us, it’s going to be the people who overreact and start unnecessary conflict that will be our downfall.
I’m happy that I am somewhat removed from that chaos but fully aware that it will likely make its way up to me at some point. Hopefully cooler heads will prevail and humans will decide to help one another rather than fight. Unfortunately, I think human instinct will take over and people are going to go into survival mode. My perspective is now is not the time, this is just a preview of something worse that will come in our lifetime but will be an indication of how we as a species react. My fingers are crossed that we do what is right and help one another. Time will tell.
A little deeper than I like to get on this one but I can’t help but think about the chaos that is taking place and what people may do. Get out and get some fresh air people……stay away from each other though. 6 feet…..or is it 10 feet now. Who knows. Stay safe and be kind.
P.S. I’m sad to see all of the races being cancelled. My next big race, the Quicksilver 50k, got postponed this morning.
