I Understand the Hype
I took the mountain bike out for its maiden voyage today. Long story short, its super fun! I understand why so many people are always out on the trails. It is very tough and different than running. Going up the hills was surprisingly difficult. If they are too steep I literally couldn’t get up without getting off my bike. I must be doing something wrong.
I hit the pedals on some rocks a few times. Especially going through the creek. I’m not sure I was supposed to go through the creek but I tried it anyway. I made it on the way out but got my feet soaked on the way back. Good times.
I took the familiar running route I normally take so I knew what would be coming. I think this was the smartest thing I did on the ride. I am definitely a beginner and very timid on the downhills. I basically ride the brakes right now. I did get the thrill when I got close to the bottom and let it go. As I get more comfortable with controlling the bike I’m sure I will loosen up and it will be even more exciting. Overall, it was an awesome first ride and I am looking forward to more.
