The Creek Said No
We had some good rains over the weekend. Well, some solid California rain. Anyway, wanted to get some trails in tonight so I headed out about a half hour before sunset. I brought my light with me so I could see on the way back. Long story short, I didn’t make it that far.
It was a slip and slide out there. As soon as I hit the trails I almost hit the ground at least 5 times. Thank goodness I have the reflexes of a small kitten. I was wearning my half trail, half road shoes just in case I did end up on the road. They probably don’t have the best grip for trails. I was determined to push through even if I did end up slipping and falling a little. By this point my legs were already muddy and feet were a little wet.
It all came to a screaching hault when I hit the creek crossing. There are a few little creeks that you need to cross on this trail. They are small and there are a few rocks sticking out of the water that you can use to get across…….not today. The water was moving pretty good and there were no rocks above the water. I bet the water was no more than about ankle or calf deep but I wasn’t about to run another 6 miles with soaked feet so I decided to turn around and run back through the muck and hit the streets.
The run finished nicely on the streets. It was a beautiful night. We had a really nice sunset, everything was wet from the rain and the moon looked amazing. 8 Miles easy tonight. I’ll end it with some photos as usual.
