Family Time
This social distancing thing is pretty tough. We have been taking it seriously and been cooped up in the house together for the past few days. We took the kids out of school on Monday while still having to both get our work done. For those of you who have kids you know the struggles of keeping little ones entertained while trying to get something done. We’ve done a good job taking turns and staggering meetings so we can be productive. Today may have been the most productive day I’ve had in about a year. It’s amazing what you can get done without day to day distractions.
As tough as it has been being cooped up in the house it is nice to have the family together all day and eating every meal together in the house. Typically we are always on the run and we eat out a lot. It has been awesome to sit down for multiple meals together everyday. I feel like meals are some of the only times people take the time to talk anymore. We made a rule early on that there were no phones allowed during meals. We don’t always follow the rule but we most often do.
Before dinner tonight we decided to get some fresh air and go for a walk around the neighborhood. We are so lucky to have an awesome paved trail through an open space preserve only a block from our house. It’s a beautiful walk. The kids used it as a race track today. Good times.
I got an easy 3 miles in tonight after everyone went to bed. It felt good. It was definitely the best I have felt since the race. I was wondering when I would start to feel good again. I’m not fully recovered yet but I’m close. Tomorrow is a day off then I have a couple short runs on Friday and Saturday. The coach has me doing a nice and easy after the race.
