Crazy Times
Today is a scheduled day off from running just two days before my first ever trail marathon is scheduled. These last 48 hours have been a whirlwind with Coronavirus…..not sure if that is spelled correctly…..COVID-19. Anyway globally things are being shut down left and right. This has been happening on a pretty large scale over the past month or so as the virus has been spreading but the last 48 hours went into high gear.
Off the top of my head, here are a list of things that have fully stopped within the last day or so:
NHL
NBA
MLB
Professional Soccer
NCAA March Madness
Disneyland
Disneyworld
Boston Marathon
Multiple small races
That’s just to name a few of the huge ones. There are so many more. Basically the world is on shutdown. I went to the Bay Area today and it was like a ghost town. I was bizarre, truly nuts to see a place that is normally packed with people nearly empty.
There are multiple races that got cancelled today but surprisingly mine wasn’t. They actually made it a point to say it was not cancelled. I’m questioning if I should even run it at this point. I’m not sure what I am going to do right now. I believe the Mayor put a limit on events to less than 250 people. Not sure how many will be in this race but I bet it will be around there. The race director said they have cancelled the shuttles and at the start we have to be at least 6 feet apart from each other. It all sounds crazy. I’m a bit lost.
The main photo was taken today at Home Depot. I went to pick up a light for my house and it was chaos on the cleaning aisle. When I walked around the corner I saw this lady clearing out the toilet paper. I don’t get the toilet paper thing….why toilet paper?
